With God All Things Are Possible

by Varda Rose

In 1995, Gale, an Intensive Care (burns victims) RN, was 48,  battered by a man she
was in a relationship with, ended up in a  shelter and lost her home, addicted to
nicotine and alcohol, very  ill with pneumonia and an advanced case of AIDS,  and
according to  her doctors had only a couple of months to live. Gale was preparing  to
die... she "surrendered to the will of God" leaning on Him,  rather her own
understanding to direct her life... and felt moved   to reach out for help and support
starting with a friend, Linda C.,  a life coach, "Please teach me how to die gracefully"
she told  Linda. "how about if I teach you how to live?" was Linda's  response, and
thus began a long, often complicated but also  exciting journey into healing.

Gale managed to join few of Linda's overseas spiritual retreats,  started reading the
Bible, walking, changing her diet to a more  wholesome one, got active in her
community, better medical care. It   was a process of spiritual awakening, purification
and releasing of emotional and physical toxins and negativity, whole life transformation.
She still sees herself as a work in progress,  focusing on God and serving others and
finding peace, joy,  fellowship and life in the process. Today, at 61, she is doing
"better than ever" and the virus is undetectable in her body,   looking forward to a full
and satisfying life.

Here is Gale's handwritten letter, may I suggest first reading it   slowly and savoring
her words of wisdom and message of hope, then,  let's look at it again for finding out
characteristics and skills   she used that were helpful in her recovery.

To Gale, faith is not about religion but about a personal   relationship with God.
Ultimately, whatever we believe in is what  creates every aspect of our reality. You
might be familiar with the   pioneering work of Bruce Lipton, Ph.D, a cell biologist,
research  scientist and medical school professor, who discovered that  contradictory to
traditional views, biology doesn't control our  life, but rather our beliefs control our
biology! For more  information please go to his website http://www.brucelipton.com
his book:  the Biology of Belief. So, back to Gale's handwriting -

Gale used the kind of semi sheer paper used for airmail, not the  regular kind, so the
scanned version doesn't appear quite true to the original. Original appears more firm
and even. Tried  writing on it and paper feels to me less absorbent, so what is
written seems to stand  out more...the pen used is ballpoint,  requiring more effort
using than a marking pen, Gale doesn't mind   making the effort to get where she needs
to and share her story.  Semi sheer paper fits in with her desire to be transparent, tell
the truth as she sees it. Her no nonsense style of writing, no  fluff or attempt to be
pretty, makes her writing more real, nothing  to hide, this is the real me, warts and all...

Page is full, individualistic style, medium size letters, roundness  and angles, there is
structure and order, tight horizontal tension,  like a tight horizontal rope, letters slant
to the right, lines are  fairly straight, right margin on the narrow side, strong t bar
crossings, strong punctuation, high i dots, strong lower zone  letters, lively/strong
pressure - Gale is her own person, strong  life force and drive, can be both independent
and connected, has  strong convictions, yet resilient, is focused, has both vision and
the ability to manifest it into reality, strong will, decisive,  determined, recognizes
opportunities when they come her way. No  victim mentality here. She will take the
lemons life throws her way  and make a unique lemonade out of them, with a grateful
and humble  heart.

Few more thoughts, Gale was a nurse in intensive care, specializing  in burn victims.
Caring and giving to those who were in dire  emergencies because of fires. At that time
she was also battered,  beaten by a man she trusted, lost her home, addicted to drugs,
her  body ravaged by a virus, no hope given by medical authorities.

Talking to Gale and looking at her handwriting, it appears to me that  here was a strong
willed woman who was focused on herself and looked  in all the wrong places for
satisfaction,  then one day the one who  cared for those burned, had her own hellish
and consuming fire, she  lost everything she had and lived for, almost lost her life... but
when awakened and let go of her will and everything that she didn't  need, giving it all
up, surrendering and becoming God and others  focused, she gained it all back and
then some. Now she finally found  her soul, the caring and blessings she always
wanted, that cannot be  taken away.

Gale testimony is about healing our lives and our souls. A healthy  body is one of the
many fringe benefits.
